Shop Small Raffle Results Announced
Fond du Lac, WI – John Welsch of Fond du Lac is the winner of $500 in downtown gift certificates in the third annual Downtown Fond du Lac Shop Small raffle.

Welsch submitted receipts from Kitz & Pfeil True Value, Cutter Vac, Wood's Floral & Gifts, and Texture Salon to receive 153 entries into the raffle. “I think it’s important to support the local downtown, and the greater Fond du Lac community. My wife Andrea and I will go out of our way to support the community where we live, work, and play. We can build a stronger business community by working together,” said Welsch, who was surprised and excited to win.

The Shop Small raffle, sponsored by Fox Valley Savings Bank, is part of an annual marketing campaign organized by the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people, activity, business and a thriving civic life back to the heart of Fond du Lac.

Welsch was one of 209 individuals to enter the Shop Small raffle by submitting receipts for purchases in downtown between November 1 and December 31, 2016. Individuals received one entry for every $10 spent downtown. Submitted receipted totaled $68,175 in downtown spending and included transactions at 64 different downtown businesses. Entries showed that two-thirds of spending downtown was done by consumers from Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac, while $24,000 came from outside communities.

“The Shop Small marketing campaign and raffle are designed to remind consumers to think about downtown first when they begin their holiday shopping and throughout the rest of the year. We certainly hope it will draw new shoppers from outside the Fond du Lac area, but our primary goal is always to remind the community to support its local business owners,” said Amy Hansen, executive director of the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership.

The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership serves 214 properties with 284 businesses, 76% of which are small, locally-owned and operated.
